
Community Consultation Workshop in Kassala
The National Planning Organization, in partnership with UNICEF Sudan, has concluded its community consultation workshop for the targeted communities in Kassala locality. These meetings were conducted through the "Enhancing Community Resilience" project team, funded by the World Bank, at the police hall in Kassala.
Objectives of the Meeting
The meetings aimed to discuss the needs of the four targeted communities and identify their priorities in various development sectors, facilitated by the specialized technical committee in each area.
Participants
The workshop was attended by several key figures, including:
- Mr. Salah Al-Omdah, representative of the Ministry of Social Affairs.
- Ms. Noor Ahmed Zaroug, representative of the Population Council.
- Mr. Nizar Youssef, representative of the Humanitarian Aid Commission.
- Mr. Abu Obeida, UNICEF Director for the Eastern Sector.
- Mr. Ehab Al-Sheikh, project supervisor.
- Mr. Louay Mohamed, representative of the executive director of the locality and head of the technical committee.
Additionally, members of the committee, representatives from organizations involved in the "Enhancing Community Resilience" project, and community representatives were present.
Discussion Topics
Participants discussed development needs across several sectors, including:
- Health and Nutrition
- Education
- Water and Sanitation
- Child Protection
Outcomes
Priorities were identified and formulated in a technical manner that ensures the continuation of developmental projects according to urgent needs. These priorities will be submitted to UNICEF in the final report of the consultations.
These meetings are part of ongoing efforts to enhance community resilience and achieve sustainable development that meets the needs of citizens in Kassala.
